On November 26, 2018, the Institute of Flexible Electronics Technology of THU, Zhejiang has been approved to be the National Natural Science Foundation Supporting Research Center, which indicates that from 2019, the institute will be qualifieds to independently apply for and work for projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
In recent years, the Foundation has received applications from more than 700 research centers. After strict examination of the basic scientific research capabilities and managerial abilities, only approximately 20% of the institutes are approved.
In August this year, the institute officially applied to be a National Natural Science Foundation Supporting Research Center. The foundation then sent officials down to conduct a rigorous review of it. With excellent hardware and software conditions, the institute was unanimously recognized by all officials of the Foundation. The institute stood out among its competitors and has obtained the qualification of the National Natural Science Foundation Supporting Research Center.
In the future, the institute will strictly abide by the management regulations and policies set by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The staff will conscientiously perform the management duties of a supporting workplace and actively encourage scientific researchers to engage in fund projects. Also, the institute will manage the projects well to further improve the frontier scientific research level of our institute.
In regard to the fund application for next year, the institute has organised several discussion forums and lectures as well as coming up with polies to encourage and support workers to apply for the funds. All related work is carried out smoothly at this stage.
